Thought is a piece that is supposed to represent a happy thought. The thin opening depicts the creation of an idea. That idea begins to flourish with an ascending line in the violins. The primary melody moves by steps, representative of the way that to achieve ideas, we must complete certain steps.
During the B section, the pizzicato gives the piece a playful scene, just how in life we have moments of play. These distractions in life give us a break. But, soon we find our way back to reaching for our idea.
The C section introduces trouble, fear, and anxiety. These are all emotions we feel when there is a roadblock between us and the fulfillment of our dreams. However, by having strength, we can achieve anything and live in happiness.
